Union Primary Logo

The Philadelphia Union is a professional soccer team based in Chester, Pennsylvania. The team was founded in 2008 and began competing in Major League Soccer (MLS) the following year. Throughout its history, the club has used several logos to represent itself both on and off the field. The most iconic of these logos is known as “the Primary Logo” which features a unique shield shape with blue and gold colors that reference Philadelphia's colonial past.

The original design for this logo was created by local artist Rodney Richardson who wanted to capture some of Philly's rich heritage while also creating something modern enough to appeal to younger fans. He achieved this by using two distinct shapes: an oval representing unity among all Philadelphians, along with a triangle symbolizing strength through adversity—two traits associated with many people from around the city’s neighborhoods throughout history. Additionally, he included elements such as stars from America's flag which serve as reminders of our shared national identity despite differences between us all at times. This combination creates an image that conveys power but also humility, making it perfect for representing one of America’s oldest cities on its newest sports team uniforms!

Since 2009 when it first debuted, this logo has become synonymous not only with soccer fandom but also civic pride across Philadelphia — appearing everywhere from billboards downtown to T-shirts worn around town during games or just out running errands! It serves not only as a reminder that we are united through sport but more importantly connected because we share common values like resilience & courage no matter where you come from within our great city!
