Chicago Fire FC Wordmark Logo

The Chicago Fire FC is a professional soccer team based in Chicago, Illinois. The club was founded in 1997 and has been playing ever since. One of the most recognizable symbols of the club is its wordmark logo, which has changed over time to reflect changes in ownership and design trends.

The first version of the logo featured an orange fire-breathing dragon with “Chicago Fire” written across it on a black background. This original design reflected both the city’s nickname as “the Windy City” as well as its long history with fires that have shaped much of its architecture and culture today. In 2002, this original logo was replaced by one featuring a red shield shape containing two crossed axes above three stars representing each major league championship won by the team at that point - MLS Cup 1998; US Open Cup 1998; MLS Supporters' Shield 2003).

In 2019, after new investors had taken control over ownership rights for Chicago Fire FC from former owner Andrew Hauptman's Andell Holdings LLC., they unveiled yet another redesigned version of their iconic wordmark logo – this time featuring an abstract flame shape within which are contained two overlapping letters F (for "Fire"). This updated look also includes several other elements such as stars representing championships won (now five) along with colors meant to evoke passion ("red") and strength ("black"). It stands out among other logos used by teams around Major League Soccer due to its unique style while still maintaining ties to previous iterations through some core features like the color palettes or star motifs associated with accomplishments throughout franchise history.
