Orlando City SC Primary Logo
Orlando City SC is a professional soccer team that has played in Major League Soccer since 2015. The club’s primary logo has undergone several changes since its inception, each with its own unique meaning and history.
The first Orlando City SC logo was unveiled in 2011 when the club began playing in USL Pro (now known as the United Soccer League). This original design featured a lion’s head within a shield shape, accompanied by two stars to represent the city of Orlando and its flag colors. The lion symbolized strength and power while also paying homage to one of Florida's state symbols -the Florida Panther- which was adopted shortly after the founding of Orlando City SC.
In 2014, following their move to MLS from USL Pro, Orlando City released an updated version of their primary logo which incorporated elements from both previous designs. This new look featured an orange sunburst emanating outward from behind an updated lion’s head inside another shield shape; this time with four stars representing each corner county surrounding Central Florida: Orange County (OC), Osceola County (OSC), Seminole County (SEM) & Volusia County(VOL). Additionally, purple lines were added around the outside edge to signify unity between all four counties as well as honor those who have supported them throughout every step on their journey into Major League Soccer!
Overall, it can be seen that there is much symbolism behind every aspect of this iconic emblem –from honoring local wildlife & communities–to conveying strength & pride for all supporters across Central Florida! It truly embodies what it means “To Be Lionhearted" –something we will continue striving towards for years to come!
