The Washington Mystics have been a staple of the WNBA since their inception in 1998, and their iconic wordmark logo has become synonymous with the team. From its humble beginnings to its current iteration, the Mystics’ logo has evolved into an emblem of strength and pride for fans all over the world.

The original Washington Mystics wordmark was unveiled during their inaugural season in 1998. The design featured a bold font set on top of two white stars that represented both DC's star-studded history as well as its status as one of America's most powerful cities. This classic look served them faithfully until 2011 when they launched a new identity featuring an updated font style and colors inspired by traditional Native American artistry from local tribes such as Powhatan, Piscataway, Anacostia River Tribes & Nations (ARTN), Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Tribe (NLTT). This incarnation also included the prominent use of purple which is now widely regarded among fans to be “the color” for all things related to D.C.'s beloved basketball team!

In 2019, The Washington Mystic made yet another change unveiling what would become known affectionately by many simply "as '19". It features a modernized script typeface that pays homage to both old-school lettering styles while still maintaining some contemporary flair - something sure to please any fan who appreciates nostalgia but doesn't mind keeping up with today's trends too! Additionally, this version includes subtle nods towards DC culture including cherry blossoms along either side representing beauty & promise just like our nation’s capital itself!
