Sky Alternate Logo
The Chicago Sky have been a part of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) since 2006, and throughout their history, they’ve had several different logos. The team has gone through multiple iterations of its primary logo, but one thing that hasn't changed is the use of blue as a dominant color. In addition to having an iconic primary logo, the Sky also boasts an impressive alternate Primary Logo which has become synonymous with the franchise over time.
The current version of this Alternate Primary Logo was introduced in 2016 and features two stars above a basketball containing four stripes - three red stripes on top and one white stripe below - representing both Chicago's skyline and flag respectively. This design pays homage to all those who have come before us while celebrating our city's rich sports heritage at once! It also serves as a reminder that no matter what happens on or off the court we will always be proud members of this great city; something fans can rally behind for years to come!
The original version was created in 2010 when then-owner Michael Alter decided he wanted something unique for his WNBA team from other professional sports teams in Chicago like Bears football or Cubs baseball. He chose blue because it stands out among other colors used by these teams – plus it looks great against navy jerseys worn by players during games! After coming up with initial concept sketches featuring various elements such as stars & skylines, he settled on the final design which incorporated them all together into single cohesive piece art work. Since then, every iteration has stayed true core idea set forth back in 2010: showcasing strength power beauty not only in Windy City but the entire women’s basketball movement worldwide!
