Liberty Wordmark Logo
The primary feature within this mark is an orange-and-blue shield which contains both “New York” written above it in white letters on the top half and “Liberty” written below in blue on the bottom half; all enclosed within a circular border containing stars representing each borough located within NYC metropolitan area. Additionally, there are five small stars surrounding the outside edge which represent original WNBA teams at the time of launch: Charlotte Sting (now defunct), Houston Comets (also defunct), Los Angeles Sparks, Sacramento Monarchs & Utah Starzz (which later became San Antonio Stars before folding up shop).
Since its introduction nearly twenty years ago now this classic design has gone through several iterations over the course of time but remains largely unchanged today despite being tweaked slightly here and there throughout the years mainly in order better reflect changing times and modern-day audiences.
