Shock Primary Logo
The Detroit Shock have been one of the most successful teams in the WNBA since their inception in 1998. As such, they’ve had a long and storied history with their primary logo. The original logo was designed by noted graphic designer Michael Vanderbyl and featured an orange “D” inside of a white circle, surrounded by black trim with two stars at either side. This design was used until 2006 when it underwent several changes to reflect the team’s new ownership group and name change from Detroit Shock to Tulsa Shock (now Dallas Wings).
In 2007, after being acquired by William Davidson's Palace Sports & Entertainment Group, the team unveiled its current primary logo featuring an abstract "S" shape made up of shades of blue set against a red background. This design has remained unchanged ever since despite some minor tweaks here and there over time including adding more white trim around both sides as well as adjusting colors slightly for better visibility on digital platforms like websites or television broadcasts.
This iconic emblem is now synonymous with not only professional basketball in Michigan but also serves as a reminder that no matter what obstacles come your way you can still succeed if you work hard enough! From winning three championships between 2003-2008 under head coach Bill Laimbeer to making deep playoff runs more recently under head coaches Cheryl Reeve (2009-present), this symbol stands testament that anything is possible when it comes to competing at the highest level women's basketball league across the globe!
