Lions Primary Logo
The BC Lions have been a part of the Canadian Football League (CFL) since 1954, and their iconic logo has been an integral part of their brand identity ever since. The original design was created by legendary graphic designer Saul Bass in 1965, and it featured a roaring lion’s head set against a background of orange and black stripes. This classic version remained unchanged until 1997 when the team decided to give it an update for the new millennium.
The updated design kept many elements from its predecessor while adding some modern touches that made it more visually appealing. The most noticeable change was to make the lion's face larger so that its features were easier to distinguish; this also allowed for more detail in regards to shading and coloring which gave depth to the image as well as made it look bolder on merchandise or game day apparel. Additionally, they added two stars above his mane representing Vancouver Island where BC is located – this small addition not only helped tie into the local culture but also served as a subtle reminder about how proud we are here at home!
Despite these changes over time, one thing remains constant: our beloved logo continues to be recognized around Canada – even internationally -as synonymous with success both on and off the field! It stands out amongst other teams' logos because of its unique combination of traditional symbolism combined with contemporary style; no matter what year you go back to there will always be something recognizable within those lines & colors that takes us back home again each time we see them together...
