Lions Wordmark Logo

The BC Lions have been an integral part of the Canadian Football League (CFL) since 1954, and their iconic wordmark logo has been a staple in football culture for over 65 years. The original logo featured a lion’s head with the letters “BCL” inside it. This design was used until 1982 when it was replaced by a more modernized version featuring the words “British Columbia Lions” written in white on black background.

In 1999, the team decided to make another change to its branding and introduced an updated version of its classic wordmark logo that included two lions facing each other with one paw upraised as if they were roaring at each other—a symbol designed to represent strength and determination which are core values associated with this franchise.
