Nottingham Forest FC Primary Logo
Nottingham Forest Football Club is an English professional football club based in Nottingham, England. The club was founded in 1865 and has a long history of success, having won the European Cup twice and the FA Cup once. Throughout its history, Nottingham Forest has had several primary logos that represent its identity as a team.
The first logo used by Nottingham Forest was introduced in 1892 when they were formed as an amateur side. It featured two crossed axes with “NFFC” written on them to signify their name at the time: Notts Fosse FC (the original name of the team). This logo remained until 1938 when it was replaced by another design featuring three trees with green leaves against a white background - symbolizing strength through unity and signifying that they were from Nottinghamshire (where many forests are located).
The current primary logo for Nottingham Forest FC dates back to 1973 when it underwent major changes following its promotion into Division One (now known as Championship) after being relegated from Division Two just one year prior. The new design featured two concentric circles surrounding four small oak leaves inside; this symbolized stability despite turbulent times since each leaf represented one season out of four years spent climbing back up divisions before reaching top-flight status again! Additionally, this emblem also included “NFFC” written across its center which stands for "Nottingham Forests Football Club". This iconic badge remains today and is still proudly worn by players on matchdays or displayed around stadiums during home games!

Commemorative features were added for NFFC’s 30th anniversary of winning back-to-back European Cups, and a gold badge was one of the few things Fawaz Al-Hasawi managed to come up with to celebrate 150 years of the club.

Forest consulted Trent Polytechnic’s Graphics Dept and the Nottingham Evening Post, leading to a competition to design the best badge. One of Trent’s designers, David Lewis, won £25.
Lewis adapted his design into the iconic one Forest has used since. He stylized the tree shape by depicting a specific tree species, making it “weighty,” not “spindly.”

Nottingham Forest adapted the City of Nottingham coat of arms, the only variation being that the letters NFFC replaced the “castle” in the original design.
