Tiger-Cats Primary Logo
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are one of the oldest and most storied franchises in the Canadian Football League (CFL). As such, they have a history of logos that dates back to their founding in 1950. From classic designs featuring tigers to modern takes on traditional motifs, the team has had some iconic looks over its 70 years of existence.
The first logo for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats featured a tiger head inside an orange circle with “Hamilton” written above it and “Tiger-Cats” below it. This design was used from 1950 until 1965 when it was replaced by another tiger head logo inside an oval shape with “Hamilton Tigers” written across the top and bottom respectively. This version remained unchanged until 1972 when minor adjustments were made including adding black stripes around each side of the oval as well as changing up some lettering details within "Tigers."
The third primary logo for this team came about in 1989 which saw a much more stylized take on their original concept – now featuring two tigers facing each other against an orange background surrounded by black lines at both ends forming what is known today as "the claw" look. The wordmark also underwent changes here with italicized fonts being used instead along with larger letters spelling out "HAMILTON TIGER CATS."
In 2017, after nearly 30 years of using this same design, they decided to give their brand identity another update – introducing yet another new primary logo which features two fierce-looking cats facing off against one another while creating a powerful 'X' formation between them; all set atop a navy blue background framed within white borders at either end containing smaller versions of their previous paw print iconography alongside additional wording detailing exactly who these cats belong too: namely - HAMILTON TIGER-CATS CFL FOOTBALL TEAM!
While there may have been several iterations throughout its long history so far - there's no doubt that these designs will continue evolving into something even more memorable & recognizable through time; making sure every fan knows just who's playing ball whenever they see those famous claws!
