Gunslingers Logo History
The San Antonio Gunslingers were a professional American football team that played in the United States Football League (USFL) from 1983 to 1985. The team was based in San Antonio, Texas, and played their home games at Alamo Stadium. While they only lasted three years, the Gunslingers left an indelible mark on USFL history with their unique logo and uniforms.
The original logo featured a gunslinger wearing a wide-brimmed hat and holding two revolvers crossed over his chest while riding atop horseback galloping through an orange sunburst background. This symbolized the wild west heritage of Texas as well as paying homage to legendary figures such as Billy The Kid or Jesse James who embodied this era of lawlessness and adventure – something that resonated with fans across America during those days when outlaws were still seen by many people as romantic figures rather than criminals.
In 1984, however, the franchise changed its look significantly by introducing new colors (blue/red/silver) along with a redesigned logo featuring an eagle perched atop two crossed pistols above text reading “Gunslingers” written in bold font against either side respectively – all set within white circle bordered by silver stars representing each state within USFL's footprint at the time: Arizona Outlaws; Birmingham Stallions; Chicago Blitz; Denver Gold; Houston Gamblers; Jacksonville Bulls; Los Angeles Express; Michigan Panthers; New Jersey Generals; Oakland Invaders; Oklahoma Outlaws; Pittsburgh Maulers; Portland Breakers; Tampa Bay Bandits; Washington Federals; Memphis Showboats; & Baltimore Stars). This design was meant to represent strength through unity among all teams involved while also conveying a sense of power & authority associated with gun ownership during the Wild West period which again connected back nicely to the theme chosen for the franchise name itself!
Overall then it can be said that even though they existed for just three short seasons before folding up shop due to financial difficulties faced league overall - San Antonio Gunslingers made sure to leave behind a lasting impression thanks largely part its iconic logos which continue live today amongst nostalgics everywhere!
