Federals Logo History
The Washington Federals were a professional American football team that played in the United States Football League (USFL) from 1983 to 1985. Despite its short history, the franchise left an indelible mark on USFL lore with its unique logo and mascot.
The Federals’ original logo featured a cartoon-style muscular man wearing red shorts, white shoes, and a blue shirt with yellow stars around his shoulders. The figure was holding two crossed flags—one of which had 13 alternating blue and white stripes—in front of him as if he was ready to run into battle. This design gave the team an energetic look that embodied its spirit of competition while also paying homage to Washington D.C.'s long history as part of America's national identity since 1791 when it became our nation's capital city after ratification by Congress during President George Washington’s tenure in office.
In 1984, the Federals changed their logo slightly by adding more detail such as shading on certain features like his face or arms but kept essentially the same style intact for another year before they moved back northward from Orlando in 1985 where they had been playing due to stadium issues at RFK Stadium back home; this time taking up residency at Giants Stadium in New Jersey instead. In this new location came yet another alteration: now featuring three flags rather than two along with some minor changes made throughout other parts including making his body appear even more athletic looking than before all while still keeping true colors maintained - red/white/blue being primary ones used here too just like earlier version did too! This would ultimately be the last iteration we'd ever see though because shortly thereafter league folded altogether thus ending any chance there may have been seeing further evolution take place down the road ahead either way...or so thought until recent times when resurgence interest has led some people to believe possible revival could happen someday soon enough if conditions right again!
