Bandits Logo History
The Tampa Bay Bandits were one of the most iconic teams in the United States Football League (USFL). The team was established in 1983 and played for three seasons before folding after the 1985 season. During their time in existence, they had a unique logo that has become synonymous with USFL nostalgia. In this blog post, we’ll take a look at the history of Tampa Bay Bandits logos throughout their tenure as part of the USFL.
When they first joined the league back in 1983, Tampa Bay had an orange and red logo featuring a football player wearing a helmet adorned with horns on either side to represent “the bandits” moniker given to them by owner John F Ortiz. This design would remain unchanged until 1984 when it was slightly tweaked to make it more modern looking while still keeping its original essence intact. The new version featured an updated font along with some minor alterations such as adding black outlines around certain elements like stars and stripes from American flag motifs which gave off more patriotic vibes than before.
In 1985, just prior to disbanding due to financial difficulties, the team released yet another variation on their classic design – this one being much bolder than its predecessors. It featured two crossed swords behind what appears to be an alligator head instead of the traditional football helmet used previously; both items were outlined white against dark green background giving the overall image a greater sense of depth compared to earlier iterations. Additionally there now appeared larger stars above the top left corner plus a bandit-like figure running across the bottom section complete ensemble making up memorable emblem fans associate today so fondly whenever reminiscing about heyday USFL glory days!
