Invaders Logo History
The Oakland Invaders were a professional American football team that played in the United States Football League (USFL) from 1983 to 1985. The team was based out of Oakland, California and their home games were played at the Oakland Coliseum. The Invaders had a unique logo that featured an alien-like figure with long arms and legs wearing an old-fashioned leather helmet with horns on it.
The original design for the logo was created by artist Dwight Manley who drew inspiration from his own experience as a former USFL player for the Los Angeles Express in 1984. Manley wanted to create something that would stand out among other professional sports teams’ logos, so he chose to go with an extraterrestrial theme rather than traditional imagery such as animals or people figures commonly used by many other teams at that time.
Manley's design has become iconic over time and is still remembered fondly today by fans of both USFL football and classic logos alike! It features bright colors like purple, yellow, green, blue & orange which make it very eye-catching - perfect for any fan gear collection!
The Invaders' logo also served another purpose: representing what made them different from all other pro sports franchises; they weren't just about winning championships but also about having fun while playing hard on game day! This idea is reflected in their mascot "Invader" who wears sunglasses & carries around a surfboard - clearly not your typical NFL/AFC/NFC type mascot character you'd expect to see cheering alongside players during pregame introductions...
Overall this simple yet memorable symbol has become synonymous not only with USFL nostalgia but also serves as a reminder of how much fun can be had when playing America's favorite sport - Football!!
