In our Clash of Logos series, we present the thrilling National Hockey League (NHL) Logo Tournament. Prepare for an intense showdown as we feature the current primary logos of every NHL team in an exciting logo bracket challenge. The burning question is: Which team possesses the supreme primary logo in the NHL? Join us in our quest to uncover the ultimate NHL primary logo by participating in bracket competitions and casting your votes. Here are the rules for the head-to-head battles in the brackets to ensure fair and captivating matchups.

  1. The winner is the first to get 1000 votes.
  2. The vote count is refreshed every Tuesday in the bracket.
  3. Everyone can vote once a DAY.
  4. The winner moves on to the next round.
  5. If a new logo comes out, the new logo replaces the previous one and continues with the same votes.

Game #1

Anaheim Ducks - The current Ducks logo, the D-Foot simplified the previous logo that came before it in 2007 - 2013. Rather than spelling out the whole team name, the webbed "D" from the previous logo was enlarged and made a logo unto itself.

Montreal Canadiens - The change to the current logo is again a closed red letter "C," with its top and bottom edges curling into each other in a symmetrical shape. The "C" and the "H" are fused together. All enclosed by a thick blue outline.

Game #2

Boston Bruins - In 2007, the Bruins logo went through another minor redesign, which kind of bolded the old look. The black "B" has a gold outline with a black trim. The yellow spokes are now symmetrical with the bold black border. The thick black circle remains with the gold trim.

Vancouver Canucks - A dark blue, white and grey Orca whale bursting out of the ice in the shape of a letter "C." The arched "VANCOUVER" wordmark removed for 2019 - 2020 season.

Game #3

Columbus Blue Jackets - The red, white and blue flag is wrapping around the white and silver star in the background is the Ohio state flag, which is fitting for the only NHL team based in the state. And the way the flag swooshes around the star makes a subtle “C” in the logo to stand for Columbus.

Philadelphia Flyers - A black P-Wing with an orange circle in the middle. The Flyers classic orange and black winged-P that oozes hard-nosed hockey and harkens back to the Broad Street Bullies days. The letter "P" stands for the city of Philadelphia.

Game #4

Toronto Maple Leafs - Inspired by the classic Leafs logo of the 1940’s to 1960’s, the club’s new mark has a number of design characteristics that distinguish it. On February 2, 2016, the team unveiled a new logo that will be adopted for 2016 - 2017 season in honor of its centennial; it returns the logo to a form inspired by the earlier designs, with 31 points to allude to the 1931 opening of Maple Leaf Gardens, and 17 veins in reference of its 1917 establishment. 13 of the veins are positioned along the top portion in honor of its 13 Stanley Cup victories.

Chicago Blackhawks - The current Blackhawk logo is a side view of an native American with war paint on his face in red, black and white. His hair is black with a yellow outline and has four different feathers in red, green, yellow, and orange.

New York Rangers - From 1978 to the present day, their current logo has used a couple elements of the past a the softer blue of their third logo, while basically remaining true to the previous version.

Colorado Avalanche - The current logo has had a little shade added to it a few years later, but the actual logo hasn’t changed. The mountainous “A” stands prominently, with a streaking avalanche that wraps around and over, led by a black puck at the end, in the shape of the letter "C."

St. Louis Blues - The emblem the team proudly displays is the Blue Note. The Blue Note was taken from the music scale and represents the team's name. The classic note logo featured a blue note with wings outlined in yellow, white and blue.

Minnesota Wild - The new and cleaner head of a black bear created using Minnesota-area scenery, green pine trees, a wheat colored river, a red sky, yellow sun set and white shooting star. The wordmark "Minnesota Wild" was removed from the previous logo.

Game #10

San Jose Sharks - The new and still active primary logo arrived for 2007 - 2008. The shark is much more three-dimensional, menacing, powerful. It’s bursting out of the logo to bite the hockey stick. Its teeth are razor sharp and its eyes glow with the same yellowy orange.

Dallas Stars - A new logo was introduced for the 2013 - 2014 season. Silver replaced gold as the tertiary color, while green in a bright new shade called "Victory Green", similar to the old North Stars' shade of green was reintroduced as a primary color. The new logo features the letter "D" centering on a white with silver star and a green border around everything.

Game #11

Carolina Hurricanes - The 2000 logo changes to the "Eye of Hurricane" logo were very minor. Clean edges and colors is the only improvements to the logo.

Washington Capitals - The “T” in Capitals forms a hockey stick that has a red puck next to it and the three stars along the top are an addition to the original look. The red, white and blue colors are representative of the capital city of the USA, it’s a wordmark of “WASHINGTON" in red and "capitals” in blue italics.

Tampa Bay Lightning - The current Lightning logo is a more traditional, simple look that removed the team’s name and city altogether. The circle around the bolt that has always been there remains, while the bolt itself is a crisp, clean look that is easy on the eyes.

Edmonton Oilers - The Oilers changed their team colors again and have a darker shade of blue and a brighter shade of orange. The Oilers color wordmark "OILERS" is in blue, as well as the encompassing blue ring. The oil drop is orange in the top center.

Game #16

New York Islanders - Beginning in 2008, the Islanders introduced another modification to their original logo. The "new" logo, once again in royal blue, now features four orange stripes on the hockey stick instead of three, representing the four consecutive Stanley Cup titles in the 1980s. A wordmark "ISLANDERS" in orange on the bottom. The letters "NY" stand for the city of New York.

Vegas Golden Knights - A knight's helmet with a letter "V" in the negative space using the colors steel grey, gold, and black on top of a black with a gold trim shield.

Game #17

Los Angeles Kings - In 2011, the Kings’ logo changed to its current incarnation. There was no more blue involved, and the city’s initials were heavily stressed overtop of the crown from the previous logo version. The holding element is a modern interpretation of the traditional shield which has a royal/medieval reference. The logo also features the armband stripe scheme from the Silver & Black jerseys as a dividing element between the "L.A." on top and the Kings' primary crown logo.

Pittsburgh Penguins - The Penguins released their 50th anniversary logo for the upcoming season, which had not a hint a Vegas gold — a lighter, more metallic color — but instead, featured the Lemieux-era Pittsburgh gold — similar to the gold worn by the Steelers and Pirates, or as some people call it, “yellow.”

Game #18

Calgary Flames - The updated Flames primary logo the "Flaming C," include the red capital "C" with gold trim and now added a black trim. Flames are trailing the "C" still.

Arizona Coyotes - The primary logo for the Arizona Coyotes is an aggressive coyote howling at the moon. It has a two-tone face with zig-zag black markings down the middle, three pieces of mane leading down to the neck and triangular markings in the ear and chin. The Arizona Coyotes logo includes four triangles across the bridge of the snout, representative of the Four Peaks. The logo was designed by Adrenalin Design Group.

Winnipeg Jets - The design for the new logo, which was developed in partnership with Reebok and the NHL. The notch in the white portion appropriately and deliberately points north. The Jets logo is a grey jet flying north inside a blue and grey circle on a red maple leaf.

New Jersey Devils - The Devils' logo is a monogram of the letters "N" and "J" rendered with devil horns at the top of the "J" and a pointed tail at the bottom. The logo sits inside an open black circle, and lies on a field of white.

Florida Panthers - The new Panthers primary logo includes a more mature and stoic panther inside a shield with “Florida” set in a tab across the top of the mark.

Nashville Predators - This logo is a slightly different take on the original, with an altered color scheme and simpler design. Also, the tiger’s eye now has a more distinct pupil. The logo features the side head shot of the saber-toothed tiger with blue and gold highlighted features and a gold trim around the logo.

Game #24

Ottawa Senators - The Senator's logo is officially the head of a Roman general, a member of the Senate of the Roman Empire, projecting from a gold circle. The logo is slightly more upright and the additional squint in the eyes makes him more stoic. Mirroring the shift toward visor use in the NHL, his helmet also protects more of his face.

Buffalo Sabres - Back to the original logo from 1996 with a modern touch. A white charging buffalo above two white and yellow swords that are criss crossed, inside a blue circle with silver and yellow trim.

Seattle (New Team) - Waiting on the new Seattle team's logo.

Detroit Red Wings - With the name Red Wings came a logo that has stood the test of time and represents a perfect fit with the Motor City. The crisp, clean, detailed, yet simple red and white look has only been modified a couple times in team history and not since 1949. The Red Wings now famous logo features a red wheel with a wing attached to it.
