Arizona Coyotes Primary Logo 2022 - Present
The Arizona Coyotes have had quite a storied history as a franchise. Few may know that this franchise started as the Winnipeg Jets in the World Hockey Association from 1972 to 1979. In 1979, the Winnipeg Jets made their debut in the National Hockey League and remained as the Winnipeg Jets until 1996. In 1996, the franchise changed its name to the Phoenix Coyotes and operated under that name until 2014.
In 2014, the franchise switched its name to the Arizona Coyotes and has existed under that name ever since. Of course, the franchise has changed its logo throughout its history since becoming the Coyotes.
The first logo of the Coyotes has the wordmark “Phoenix Coyotes” at the bottom. The smaller “Phoenix” wordmark is colored in the sand, while the Coyotes wordmark appears to be colored red with a sand-colored outline. Above the wordmark, a coyote can be seen standing on top. As requested, the logo artist did not make it very intimidating. The coyote is mostly colored in sienna. He is wearing half of a goalie mask that is covered in sand. One can say that his jersey is covered in dark red. The coyote has green pants as well as bright red socks and hockey gloves.
The coyote is clutching a hockey stick that is colored in the sand. In an ode to the Southwest region, one can see a purple crescent logo on the chest of the coyote. The logo was in use from 1997 to 1999.
In 2000, the logo underwent a slight alteration. The “Phoenix Coyotes” wordmark was removed from the bottom of the logo. Now, one can only see a much bigger version of the coyote from the previous logo. One of the key differences was that the coyote's torso had a deeper shade of brick red. This logo lasted until 2003.

Arizona Coyotes Primary Logo 2015 - 2021
From 2004 to 2019, the Coyotes' logo underwent a complete transformation from its predecessors. The logo consists of a coyote howling aggressively at the moon. The coyote’s head, eyes, and nose are brick red, while the lower chin and mouth of the coyote are sand-colored. The coyote’s ears are also sand colored. One can easily see black markings in a zig-zag pattern near the nose of the coyote.
However, the Coyotes have recently chosen to revert to their previous logo for the 2021-2022 season. Sometimes, one must go back to go forward. The Arizona Coyotes have done just that.
