Logos make the team stand out with their team colors, and we love that many teams can be recognized purely from their logo. Some are immediately impactful and create a strong association with the team.
For example, everyone recognizes the yellow, red, and blue stars of the Steelers logo or the single blue star of the Dallas Cowboys, but what about Michigan? Are there any teams from Michigan state that have iconic logos that are easily recognizable? Of course! And you are probably screaming them at the screen now! Let’s look at five of the most iconic Michigan sports team logos for fun!
Although you can’t use your logo knowledge for sports betting in Michigan, you can use it to impress your friends, and you will be able to pick out the different teams easier on sports betting apps when you want to make live in-game bets.
1. Detroit Pistons
We love the Detroit Pistons logo, although we remember the possibly more iconic version from the 90s during the era Grant Hill played for the team. Throughout the years, the Detroit Pistons logo has always utilized the same red and blue colors with slight hue variations, and the outline of a basketball has also always been present since the first logo in 1957.
2. Detroit Red Wings
The Red Wings are another professional Michigan sports team with a long and celebrated history. Initially, this team was the Detroit Cougars and the Falcons. The Red Wings team has been operating since 1932 and used the same logo.
The design hasn’t changed; it must be one of the most recognizable in the NHL. It is a red-wheeled wing, and this is because the owner played for the Winged Wheelers during college. We love the simple red and white colors, which hail back to Detroit’s deep history in the automobile industry.
3. Detroit Lions
There is a common theme for Michigan logos, and that is one of simplicity. This is continued with the NFL team, the Detroit Lions. The Lions have been part of the NFL since 1930, and although they won four NFL Championship Games, they have never reached a Super Bowl.
Since its inception, the team’s logo has always contained a stylized lion and used the same color combination of blue, white, and grey. Today, the current logo has been used since 2017, and it is a block-color outline of a leaping lion that is instantly recognizable to NFL fans.
4. Michigan Wolverines
This must be one of the most recognized college football logos ever — it’s just impossible not to immediately recognize the sizeable yellow M! We love how primary this logo is — that’s essentially all it is — just a yellow M usually surrounded by a dark blue square background.
Nothing fancy, but it works, and this has been the Michigan Wolverines logo since 1901! There have been variations and alternative logos used over the years, and most variations include some type of wild wolverine artwork, but the central point of the logo has always been the giant yellow M — it’s iconic, and it works.
5. Michigan State Spartans
Michigan State Spartans Football is a historic university team.
Michigan certainly has a set of memorable team logos
Did you name all five of these teams and recognize their logos? Most likely! Teams such as the Detroit Pistons, Michigan Wolverines, and Detroit Red Wings have iconic logos. Although their style and design have evolved, the underlying theme and symbolism endure. It will be interesting to see how these logos evolve in years to come and if any other sports teams in Michigan state will rear up and create new legacies.
