The Crew has its second logo in a week after 17th May’s meeting between the owners, front office members, and the Nordecke. Moreover, they have also modified their identity from Columbus Crew SC to Columbus Crew.
Major League Soccer club Columbus Crew has left its ventured rebrand as Columbus Crew SC, after just eight days following an extreme and pressing supporter counteraction. Crew supporters told the club's ownership and front office they performed an enormous blunder with the club’s rebranding of its name and logo. The board accepted this resentment and called a meeting on May 17, 2021.
It's been a couple of weeks to the day since the board members of the Crew officially changed the club's name from Columbus Crew SC to Columbus SC, the club has somewhat canceled the rebrand by reverting to the fans favorite name, Columbus Crew, while the board has also moved a step further by abandoning “SC" from the title, which was annexed in a rebranding attempt in 2014.
The remarkable rebrand reversal was the outcome of a gathering and so-called latent meeting with club owners Dee Haslam, JW Johnson, and Dr. Pete Edwards, front office members, including Tim Bezbatchenko (General Manager) and Steve Lyons (Chief Business Officer), and notable constituents of the fanbase — which comprised of leaders from "Save The Crew" movement and the Crew's fundamental autonomous fans' association, the Nordecke.
The conclusion of the meeting came out as follows: The team’s title will revert to its traditional name, Columbus Crew – which involved the elimination of the “SC” suffix which was supplemented in 2014. While there will be some alterations and adjustments to the remodified crest, including the brand-new name and a citation to “96,” acknowledging the club’s status as an establishing and planting MLS soccer franchise in the year, 1996.
Columbus Crew's new primary logo that is linked with the recent lively rebrand looks like this way: A white ‘C’ inside a yellow/gold frame of the Ohio State flag with a black background and will mainly stay intact. Furthermore, there were also some changes, including the extension of "Crew" to the crest and the number "96" in the bottom right corner of the flag to replace a small white triangle.
