MLB concept logos of the New York Yankees by various design artists from around the world. These are redesigned ideas and not actual team logos.

Now this is a logo that can work on both a jersey and a cap/batting helmet without much issue. It also kind of looks like the 1950’s/60’s cap logo, which fits with the general aesthetic of the concept. With the primary logo, I replaced much of the red with navy (no more royal blue) and added grey to the hat’s underside. The tertiary logo is a combination of the pinstripes, the frieze pattern from the 2008 All-Star Game logo, and a banner declaring a 1903 establishment date (which fits with John Thorn’s rulings). I wanted a logo with pinstripes and the frieze, as I’ve always liked those touches. The batter man features red, as I like that little punch of color.

I’m not sure if this counts as an actual revision, but since the LoGo #2 Challenge was to revamp the Yankees with a full uniform package, I took to it. Granted, the challenge was to make it a 90’s expansion team and this set is…well…more 2000’s and 2010’s than 90’s, but I’m still proud of it!

I had a few goals for this concept. One was to unify the NY logo so that there is only 1 for the uniform set. I also wanted to give the road uniform a little more “pop”. I wanted a more identifiable wordmark, similar to the Knicks wordmark, so I changed the font to Rockwell. I gave the road uniform an Angels-style collar piping and also piping on the pants.
I also used that font on the new logo patch, which would replace the hat-and-bat logo. While that is a good logo, it doesn’t really match anything else of the Yankees.
Finally, I wanted to make an alt jersey that wouldn’t look like a BP jersey, and would be usable as a home and away alt.
Ultimately, my goal was to keep it simple, traditional, not upset the purist…. but also give the Yankees just a little facelift.

So I understand perfectly well the tradition of the New York Yankees and the class their uniform and logo carries. I was playing around with some different elements of their logos and came out with a few ideas that I wanted to get some feedback from. I’m not trying to change their identity or anything I was just having a little fun with it. The logos with the classic Yankee Stadium frieze was cropped from the All Star Logo and I was just playing around with an idea to incorporate that (patch or whatever).
