Columbus Crew SC Wordmark Logo
The Columbus Crew SC Wordmark Logo has a long and storied history. Established in 1994, the logo was created to represent the team’s unique identity as one of Major League Soccer’s original clubs. The first iteration of the logo featured an abstract design that included three stars to symbolize Columbus' status as Ohio's capital city. In 2014, it was decided that this iconic logo needed a refresh for its 20th anniversary season and so began work on creating something new yet still recognizable by fans around the world.
The result is what we now know today as “the Crest". It is made up of five distinct elements: two crossed flags representing both America and Canada; three stars from Ohio's flag; a black-and-yellow checkered pattern derived from traditional soccer kits; an eagle with outstretched wings paying homage to both American patriotism and German heritage (as many early settlers were German); finally, there are also four stripes running along each side - these represent each decade since their founding in 1994 until present day 2020!
Overall, this updated look serves not only as recognition for who they have been but also stands proud of their future years ahead! The crest embodies everything it means to be part of not just MLS but all professional sports teams – teamwork, passion & determination all wrapped neatly together into one beautiful package! With such strong symbolism behind them no matter where they play or how far they go – you can always count on seeing those familiar colors flying proudly wherever you may find yourself cheering them on!
