One of the big stories in the off season has been the move of the Oakland Raiders to Las Vegas after 57 seasons in California (44 in Oakland and 13 in Los Angeles). With this move one must wonder if the Raiders are due for a new fresh look to start their transition to Las Vegas or stick to the old tradition.

The current logo, a Raider with a black eye patch wearing a football helmet, two crisscrossed swords behind the helmet with the handles at top all on a black shield is one of the most recognizable logos in professional sports. Traditionalists may argue not to mess with tradition, but it may be time to look to the future and add a tweak or two. The changes could be subtle, so one can easily determine the team is still the Raiders, or go in a completely new direction. See new concept Raider logos.

One idea is to have a side view of the Raider’s helmet that contains black criss crossed swords, all on a black shield. The wordmark “Raiders” would be written across the top of the helmet on the shield. This way virtually all that makes up the current logo are still present, just displayed in a different format.
